Our Vision
The vision of the Church of St. Andrew is to be a thriving, healthy, parish community comprised of all of God’s people active in a variety of ministries inside and outside our walls. We desire to honor and preserve our deep history while continuing to engage and form disciples of Jesus in our time and place. We are committed to promoting our legacy into the future to further the mission of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican tradition on Staten Island.
Our Mission
The mission of the Church of St. Andrew is to be a far-reaching, hospitable community where all are welcome to join us in drawing closer to relationship to God through Jesus Christ. We do this through The Way of Love of the Episcopal Church:
TURN: Pause, listen, and choose to follow Jesus. We believe the life of Jesus reflected in the gospels is the model by which we strive to live our lives.
LEARN: Reflect on the Scripture each day, especially of Jesus’ life and teachings. We encounter Scripture through the weekly Eucharist and strive to make it part of our daily life
PRAY: Dwell intentionally with God each day. Through many forms of prayer, we seek to be in a realtionship with God daily.
WORSHIP: Gather in community weekly to thank, praise, and dwell with God. Eucahrist is the center of our lives as Christians. We commit to gathering weekly to hear the Word of God, to pray together, and to receive bread and wine made holy to nourish our spiritual lives for our presence in the world.
BLESS: Share faith and unselfishly give and serve. We reach out to others through giving and service so that the blessings we have received might bless others.
GO: Cross boundaries, listen deeply, and live like Jesus. Reconciliation is at the heart of the life of Jesus and his ministry. We endeavor to be reconciled to one another in our community and to promise reconciliation in the world.
REST: Receive the gift of God’s grace, peace, and restoration. In our baptismal covenant, we promise to respect the dignity of every human person. We pause for seasons of rest to be reminded of our dependence on God and our need for restoration.
